Description

This campaign is sponsored by Rosalea McIntosh and Audrey McIntosh Johnson in memory of the late, David M. McIntosh, from Gulfport, Mississippi. David, a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel, was employed at Columbus AFB, MS continuing to train Air Force pilots in his 2nd career when he suffered sudden cardiac arrest while at work on March 9, 2009. Prompt response from students and colleagues present, onsite assistance of an AED, paramedics and hospital staff all succeeded in bringing David through the event. He enjoyed life for 7 1/2 years before succumbing to heart disease on October 1, 2016.
Throughout her childhood Audrey enjoyed visiting Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Mississippi’s first children’s museum, and participating in many community theater opportunities in Gulfport and later in Columbus. Always supported by her parents, David and Rosalea, in these endeavors, these wonderful memories have led us back to Lynn Meadows to assist this nonprofit organization.
Hosting over 100,000 visitors a year, LMDC plays a vital role in education of children on the Gulf Coast, as well as in-state visitors and other tourists who enjoy the opportunities to learn and play here. The need for an AED onsite cannot be overstated as the quickest response tool in an emergency situation involving heart issues such as sudden cardiac arrest. LMDC had an AED many years ago, but it became outdated and obsolete. The Executive Director, Cindy DeFrances, and all staff have committed to training and acceptance of a new AED in their facility.
