My name is Danit Goldgrab and I am a parent of children who are part of the West Hempstead Shul Little League program. As we approach the upcoming season, with support of our commissioners and local shuls we are reaching out to propose an initiative that we believe is crucial for the safety of our children: the acquisition of portable AED (Automated External Defibrillator) devices for each baseball field in West Hempstead.
Having portable AED devices readily available can be lifesaving in emergencies, especially given the increasing instances of sudden cardiac arrest among young athletes and as of children who participate in this league, I would feel much more comfortable knowing that we have a portable AED on the field. G-d forbid we ever need it, but the peace of mind it provides is invaluable.
We would provide free CPR/AED training to all coaches, and the AED device would be held by the respective coach during each game. We hope you will consider supporting this important initiative. No amount is too small.
